Abstract: In this paper two new species of Phaonia Robineau Desvoidy,1830 from mountainous region of western Sichuan Prov.,China are described and illustrated,namely Phaonia labidosternita sp.nov.and Phaonia xihuaensis sp.nov.The type specimens are kept in the institute of plant physiology & ecology,Shanghai institutes for biological sciences,Chinese academy of sciences,Shanghai 2000321 Phaonia labidosternita sp.nov.(Fig.1) ♂:Body length 7.0 mm;body brown dark,legs yellow partly.This new species belongs to the Phaonia fuscata group,similar to Phaonia ryukyuensis Shinonaga et Kano,1971 from Japan,but differs from the latter in following features:posteroventral surface of the base of lst and 2nd tarsomeres of pretarsus with long hairs 1-2;in posterior view male cerci on upper one third with lateral sides concave,and with inner projection on distal part pointed at the top;long and straight of surstyli in lateral view.♀:Unknown.Holotype ♂,Ya'an(Mt.Laoban,800 m;29°59′N,102°57′E),Sichuan prov.,25 Apr.1987.coll.by Feng Yan;paratype 1 ♂,26 May 1989,same collector and locality as the holotype.2 Phaonia xihuaensis sp.nov.(Fig.2) ♂:Body length 9.0 mm;body black and legs yellow partly.This new species belongs to Phaonea fuscata group,similar to Phaonia labidosternita sp.nov.in this paper,but differs from the latter in following features:6th tergite bare;longer distant between two arms of 5th sternite;upper one third of lateral margins of cerci expandly;pregonites of aedeagus somewhat scalene triangular in shape in lateral view.♀:Unknown.Holotype ♂,Mt.Erlang(forest farm,2674 m;29°54′N,102°08′E),Sichuan prov.9 Jun.1984,coll.by Feng Yan.
