Abstract: Objective To investigate the faunal and ecological circumstance of mosquitoes in frontiers of Russia and Northeast China.Methods Using bed-curtain,insect net and light trap to collect mosquitoes.Results 39 species,belonging to 4 genera were recorded from Mohe,Heihe,Jiayin,Luobei,Fuyuan,Raohe,Hulin,Muling,Dongning,Hunchun counties(cities) in frontiers of Russia and Northeast China;25 species distributed in Daxinganling subterritory( 2 counties),and 37 species distributed in Changbaishan subterritory(8 counties).The predominant species was Aedes vexans.The composition of mosquito species varied with different habitats and months.The emerging durations were 120 days for Ae.vexans,and 60 days for Ae.punctor.During emerging seasons,there were two peaks for Ae.vexans,in the late ten days of June and the middle ten days of September,and one peak for Ae.punctor,in the late ten days of May.There were biting activation for Ae.vexans and Ae.punctor within 24 hours,two peaks of Ae.vexans and Ae.punctor appear at 1-2 hours around sunrise and sunset.Conclusion Basis of faunal distribution and ecological studies of mosquitoes in frontiers of Russia and Northeast China were provided.
