Abstract: Murine-like animal and their external parasites were investigated in Xisha Isles from April to May in 1994.It was demonstrated that the murine-like animals consisted of 3 species belonging to 2 genera,2 families and 2 orders. The dominated species was Suncus murinus, and the Rattus flavipectus was seldom observed.The parasitic chiggers consisted of 3 species belonging to 3 genera of 1 Family and the dominated one was the Leptoerombidium deliense. Gamasid mites consisted of 3 species of 1 genus in 1 family,and the dominated one was Laelaps echidninus.Fleas consisted of 2 species belonging to 2 genera of 2 families and the dominated one was the Xenopsylla cheopis. The mean carrying index and carrying rate of chiggers,gamasid and fleas, were 2.26% and 42.98%,0.68 and 18.88%,0.73 and 25.70%,respectively.The Suncus murinus were seriously affected by chiggers, R. flavipectus by gamasid,and R. norvegicus and R. flavipectus by fleas. Differences about the distribution of murine-like animals and their external parasites among separated islands were observed.
