Abstract: By analysing the characteristic of life history of Brandt's voles, the author shows that it is necessary considering the physiological age in determining the age groups of microtine rodents. It is very important to distinguish the overwinterings from the votes born of this year by the net body mass distribution. But is not necessary to determine the age groups by morphological or chronological age indexes. The author suggest that for yearly Brandt's voles born of this year should be divided into two groups which is sex-maturing group and sex-non-maturing group.
