Abstract1059)      PDF (92KB)(585)
In order to know the rodent control measure at demolished area and prevent the dispersion of commensal rodents, we measured the change of rodent density around the demolished area by using scene investigation test in which test zone and contrast zone had been set.The procedures included principal rodent control measure of chemical killing and one or two rodent defence zone, with clip method, powder track method and feeding method for detecting rodent density. The results showed that:(1) If rodent control measure taken before pulling down, the damage caused by rodent around the demolished area decreased evidently. The positive rate of rodent track around the contrast zone increased 5.07 times with powder track method, and the positive rate of feeding method increased 3.98 times.(2) If rodent control measure taken and rodent defence zone set, the rodent density around the zone decreased 29.80 percent, though the rodent density of the contrast zone increased 5.16 times.(3) If rodent control measure taken two times and rodent defence zone set, the damage caused by the rodent around the zone decreased 66.24 percent, comparing to taking rodent control measure one time and with rodent defence zone.If we take two times killing measure and set defence zone before pulling down, not only the dispersion of commensal rodent at the demolished area can be entirely controlled, but also the damage caused by the rodent around the area can be decreased.

Abstract1075)      PDF (99KB)(698)
Amounts of feeding, water drinking and energy intake were compared between Rattus norvegicus and Rattus niviventer confucianus in this paper. We conducted the experiment in April, 1997,and used rice and peanut as diet. Results showed that the mean daily amounts of feeding, water drinking and energy intake on per kilogram of body weight were higher in Rattus niviventer confucianus than in Rattus norvegicus. The interspecific differences may be explained by the fact that Rattus niviventer confucianus resides in more complex habitant than Rattus norvegicus.

Abstract991)      PDF (143KB)(636)
In the present paper, the writers attempt to deal with the problem of the delimitation of the boundaries of zoogeographical regions in Hubei on the basis of the mosquitoes fauna of the province.Among the 11 genera and 72 species of mosquitoes listed,53 species (or 73.6%) belong to the species entirely or mainly distributed in the oriental region, 11 species (or 15.3%) to those entirely or mainly distributed in the palaearctic region, and 8 species (or 11.1%) to those distributed in both oriental and palaearctic region.Basing on the comparison of the mosquito fauna of the adjacent provinces, including Hunan, Jianxi and Henan, the writers suggests that Hubei province should be included in the oriental region but the North-Western part, lying north of 32° N latitude of the province be included in the palaearctic region.

Abstract1215)      PDF (89KB)(692)
During recent years, the investigation revealed that the pool amounts at constructing sites were significantly breeding in urban area. The paper reported a result of the mosquito control with Clarias fuscus wich was introduced from Egypt in 1994-1995.A fish about 10g or 12cm long can catch 1200 larvae of Culex pipiens quinquefasciatus;a fish of 500g can catch 26000 larvae at least for one day Before putting in the fish, the average larvae density was 465 worms/spoon (350ml), the biting rat was 147 times/m.h in night at the trial area where there were 37 pools about 2000m 2 at a underground constructingsite.Since putting in Clarias fuscus, the densities of larvae and adults were descended quickly and the pools wer not found with mosquito breeding after a week. The average biting rat was 16/m.h at the area where no constructing sites.RPI were 0.013 and 0.095 in the area of trial and contrast. The result shown the densities of larvae and adult mosquitoes was descended 98.7% and 90.5% respectively. Claria fuscus were growing well in the breeding sits and can survive in winter in Fuzhou. The result showed the fish is a good natural enemy to mosquito.

Abstract1107)      PDF (105KB)(652)
The results of the epidemiological investigation showed that Leptotrombidium ( L.) subpalpale was distributed mainly in the focis of wild rat type HFRS, which was a dominant species in this area, the constituent rate was 60.34%.The density of larva was higher in November and December. It's geographic distribution was correlated with the HFRS cases distribution in the focis, and the Apodemus agrarius, main infections resources of HFRS, bore high 314.83 (November) and 239.75 (December) of chigger mite index. From the L.(L.)subpalpale larva collected from HFRSV antigen positive rats and from the L.(L.)subpalpale larva captured with small blackboards, and then bited the mice infected with HFRSV, we isolated one HFRSV strain for each, which confirmed that L.(L.)subpalpale be subject to HFRSV and that forms the determined factor for L.(L.)subpalpale as the vector of HFRS.

Abstract903)      PDF (115KB)(600)
This article reported the isolation of Rickettsia tsutsugamushi ( Rt.) from Leptotrombidium palpalis in China for the first time.4 strains were obtained from 4 groups of chiggers (71-150 chiggers as a group).Enlargement of liver was observed in experimented mice inoculated with isolates, but the spleen′s enlargement was rarely observed.Serological identification of 4 strains revealed strong positive reaction with Rt.(Gilliam strain).More research was needed to confirm whether L.palpalis can act as a vector of Rt.from chiggers to rodents or from chiggers to men.
