Objective To trace the virus from an imported viral hemorrhagic fever case in Qinhuangdao in 2012, molecular characteristics of the pathogen were studied. Methods The serum collected from the suspected case was detected for IgM antibody by ELISA, and viral nucleic acid of serum and urine samples were detected by real-time RT-PCR. Furthermore, NS1 segment was amplified by RT-PCR and sequenced. The genetic and phylogenetic analysis based on NS1 was computed. Results IgM anti-DENV was found in the serum QHD-01-BS1, BS2, and the NS1 gene sequences of serotype 2 of Dengue virus (DEN2) were recovered from the serum QHD-01-BS1 and the urine QHD-01-US respectively. The comparison showed the strains QHD-01-BS1 and QHD-01-US were very closely related to GWL39 INDI-01, GWL18 INDI-01 the COM genotype)isolated from India, with 97.3% sequence identity and 0.04 genetic distance. The further phylogenetic tree indicated the strains QHD-01-BS1 and QHD-01-US were classified as a lineage with GWL39 INDI-01, GWL18 INDI-01, belonged to genotype COM. Conclusion These results suggest the imported viral hemorrhagic fever case was infected by DENV2 from India and most likely infected in India.

Objective　To review Hyalomma excavatum Koch, which was first captured from the Italian leather at Nansha port, Guangzhou, China, and to provide reference for inspection and quarantine work at the port. Methods　The adults of H. excavatum were characterized based on specimens and the relevant literature on Ixodidae. Hyalomma excavatum was further compared with closely related species, H. anatolicum. Results　Hyalomma excavatum was intercepted from imported Italian leather. This was the first time that H. excavatum had been discovered in foreign freighters. Hyalomma excavatum was morphologically characterized in this study. Comparison was made between H. excavatum and H. anatolicum in terms of taxonomy, biology, and importance in disease transmission. Conclusion　There is a high risk that exotic ticks are imported from goods. More attention should be paid and strict quarantine supervision should be carried out.

Objective To develop a gold nanoparticle-assisted real-time fluorescence PCR array for quantitative detection of Chikungunya viruses. Methods On the basis of the real-time PCR that we had established, gold nanoparticles of different sizes were added to the system for optimization, which was then evaluated. Results It was found that the amplification efficacy of the system with gold nanoparticles was higher than that without gold nanoparticles, amounting to 99.5%. There existed a good linear relationship between the Ct value of the products by gold nanoparticle-assisted real-time fluorescence PCR and the concentrations of templates, with the regression equation being y＝-3.31x+41.78, R²＝0.9997. Conclusion Gold nanoparticle-assisted real- time fluorescence PCR has the potential to improve the efficiency of PCR amplification.

Objective In order to know the propagation of rodents to provide scientific basis for rodents control,an analysis was carried out at Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport during Octobar of 2003 to September of 2004. Methods Rodentswere caught with clips and cages once a month and were dissected for propagation situation after identification. Results A total of 828 rodents were caught,and subordinate to 2 orders 2 familis 4 genera 7 species. The male was 429,and the female was 399. Inverse proportion was 1∶1.075. The number of pregnancy rodents was 118. And the pregnancy rate was 29.57%. The total embryo was 497. The averagy was 4.21. There were four peak periods of propagation in the year,March,April,June and Septemper. Propagator of Suncus murinus was 39.20%,which was the heighest. There was different propagator in different envtironment. The course area was 34.13%,life area was 28.75%,office area was 23.40%,freight area was 30.30%. Conclusion The results showed that rodents can propagate all year at Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport. The propagation peak period was spring and summer. And there was a little peak period in the end of autumn. There was no correlation ship between propagation and density of rodents.
