Effects of the Static Electric Field on the Life System of Culex pipiens pallens by Treating Its Eggs
Wang Jin-fu;et al
Abstract1093)      PDF (304KB)(856)
In this paper effects of the static electric field on the life system of Culex pipiens pallens were measured by treating its eggs with different expose duration and different electric field tensions. Results showed that the static electric field had an important influence on the post-blast development of the mosquito. In the electric field tension of 100KV/m 2,the shorter the expose duration was.the less efficiency on the biological property of the mosquito the electric field had.The survival rate of larvae whose eggs were treated for 90 min.was only 0.58.In the expose duration of 30 min.,that of the electric field tension of 50KV/m 2 was favourable to the development of the mosquito.but the higher electric field tension would repress its development. In the electric field tension of 250KV/m 2, about half of the eggs laid by females was unfertilized. The electric field also affected the developmental rate of larvae. Finally, the reasons of the efficiency of static electric field was inferentially discussed.

Laboratory Studies on the Bionomics of Culex pipiens pallens
Liu Xiang-ping;et al
Abstract1045)      PDF (178KB)(514)
Laboratory studies on the bionomics of Culex pipiens pallens indicated that the mosquito's ponotrophic cycle was 6.7 dayS and its egg-raft had 94.2 eggs on the average. The egg-hatching rate and the survival rate of larvae and pupae reach more than 90%. The adult's average life span is about 27 days. The mosqu ito can mate on the second day after emergence and the fertilization rate can reach more than 50% after five days of its emergence. One male cna mate successfully with several females, but can't do in small space. The number of eggs which one female produces on the average is 341.07, net reproductive rate is 170.5703 and innate capacity of population increase is 0.1995. The population of the mosquito would increase almost by 400 folds in about 30 days. So the mosquito has great vitality and fecundity. These results are discussed in the context of filariasis transmission.

Abstract790)      PDF (173KB)(539)
This paper reports the penetrating energy to seek hosts of the Nasonia vitripennis and Spalangia endius by using matrix such as soil, sand, dry wheat bran and ferment wheat bran. N.vitripennis can only penetrate 1 cm of ferment wheat bran to seek and parasitize the housefly pupae. S.endius can penetrate 1,3, 5 cm of soil and ferment wheat bran and 1 cm of sand to seek and parasitize the housefly pupae. The soil is the favourite matrix for S.endius to seek the hosts.
