Abstract: In order to study the safety and efficacy of inactivated vaccine(type Ⅱ) prepared from golden hamster kidne cell(GHKC) against HFRS, 6140 healthy people, whose age was 16 to 60 years old, was injected three times on 0,28 day and 42 day, at 10 villages of Chian township, Fengxin county in 1994, which was made a supplementary injection in 1995.The level of antibody in serum, 2 weeks,12 months and 12.5 months after the first injection was observed. The neutralization antiboby(1:5) positive rates were 88.24%,14.81% and 100%.The geometric mean titer (GMT)of neutralization antiboby were 13.58,5.83 and 14.34 Seroconversion rates of IFAT antiboby(three times) were 76.37%,85.19% and 100% respectively. The GMT of them were 14.99,17.59 and 80.00. Seroconversion rates of RPHI antibody (three times) were 65.79% ,66.67%,and 96.30% respectively. The GMT of them were 12.01,12.60 and 68.58. These data demonstrated that the vaccine could effectively induce specific antibody responses.The tested group has no case developed in this sub-population. There were 10 cases of HFRS in the control group,making the incidence 117.08/10⁵, and the protection rate were 100 %.The reactions of injection were slight and local reactions were only found in few people.It showed that the vaccine was safe. For the first time it revealed that the vaccine type Ⅱ had satisfactory immune effect in the epidemic area of mixed type.
