Abstract：During the February 92 and January 93,we investigated the home rats and their ectoparasitic fleas in two natural villeges of Yuxi City, The mean rat-captured rate in one year was 7.25%, the Rattus norvegicus was the most common(73.49%),and the peak of capturing was in the September, Rattus flavipectus and Mus musculus were the common species, the peak of capturing rate was in the March and the April, respectively,The mean rat pregnant rate was 14.57%,the average number of the cffapring in a rat is 7.3,in which the peak time of the teproducti on tate was in the October during a year.The rate of rats infected with fleas was 54.3% the total flea indez was 3.15 Xenopsylla cheopis and Leptopsylla segnis were is the dominating species The former peak phase during the August to the ctober, the latter presented three peak curves;the index of the peak was stable,and the Monopsyllus anisus was the common species which the peak was in the December,and the rate of rats infected with fleas was compatible with the total flea index.
